Re: seat runners

Hiya Murph, more work needed then?

There are three possible options of seat runner.

The most common is a solid runner attached to the floor with either a T or L shaped top and the C shaped runner, attached to the seat, engages onto this.

The next is called a 3-point fixing and is usually found on the later Bugs. This has two C-shaped runners welded to the floor and one large pyramid of metal under the front of the seat.  The seat mounts using two legs at the back which engage in the runners and one runner at the front whic sits in a grove on the pyramid mount.

The third is where someone has fitted aftermarket seats by bolting them through the floorpan and it could be anything.

If you let us know which it is, and why they need replacing, it could help as it's not a common fault area unless the floorpan is rusted out, which would have been an MOT failure.

Aim to please, but shoot to kill.

Re: seat runners

Will try and upload some pics the driver side floor pan isn't in great condition but not awful but the runners appear to be very bent and not quite the right width so the seat doesn't sit right or able to lock in position apart from my owning driving position hence never noticing. Just wondering my best options.

As I need to solve all the issues before MOT

So might be a few more questions

Re: seat runners

Hi Murph and RDN! Apologies for crashing the thread (especially as I have nothing to add on the subject of runners!).

I wondered if I could join you at Wyton? I'd like to witness the goings on - I'm thinking there will be a few things that might be relevant to Angel also, and, another pair of hands might come in useful!

Re: seat runners

Shouldn't be an issue Lee.  I reckon either one day at a weekend, or an ad-hoc Splitterz meet at Wyton one evening would work.  Think the plan was really just to have a poke around any vehicles that you bring along to see if there's anything obvious that needs sorting and give the oportunity to have a good look underneath, get familiar with, your cars.

Re: seat runners

Great! An evening would be good for me (not that a weekend day wouldn't!) as I'm at Somersham for work. Look forward to it.
