Re: "The Keeper" 1970 westy pop top

Solved my tarboard problem.

Used dynamat on the roof of the engine bay,and then some board painted up black, neatened up the engine bay no end.

Then put some more dynamat under the westy bed, and used some removable soundproofing under the rear cusion.

In 2007, a crap hippy unit was sent to Much Wenlock by a frivolous purchase on ebay. This man promptly returned from the stockade to the Essex underground. Today, still wanted by the T3 purists, he survives as web designer. If you have a website problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find him, maybe you can hire... The H-Team.

Re: "The Keeper" 1970 westy pop top

loads of jobs done this weekend over at sunny Harlow

pumped the beam full of grease to help improve the annoying squeeks, adjusted the new throttle cable i fitted last week and adjusted the hand brake, as 1 side i could spin the wheels when it was jacked up

Took the waterdamaged rear hatch door panel off, sound proofed it and fitted new one i made.

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d169/slammedresto/P1020331.jpg
http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d169/slammedresto/P1020332.jpg

painted and Fitted another steering box, and new drag link, f**cker of a job, had to cut the old one off, as the arm was solid, we then used a press the get the arm off. No more knocking, just a bit of fine tuning needed, old box available if anyone needs one for exchange

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d169/slammedresto/P1020341.jpg

Leaky rocker cover, so fitted some shiney scat ones i picked up at volksworld

and final job of the day, 1 spline extra on the LH side to even out the rear, as it was an inch out (higher) that side

next job is engine and gearbox out, gearbox is stuck in 4th, so the forks could be nackered, will be off to Bears for a rebuild i think, shame as the weathers glorious and i cant use it

need to adjust me stearing box and sort out my oil pressure sender to when i get 5 mins

Re: "The Keeper" 1970 westy pop top

Well recon gearbox is back from bears, drives nice, 3000rpm at 60mph

fronts a little too low, bit of rubbing, but drives pretty good

steering box has more notches than jordans bed tho, even with those elusive shims added ( any recommendations for recons )

Re: "The Keeper" 1970 westy pop top

i love holidays, been messing about on rolling roads and getting oily..................lol

initially failed the mot on brakes a few bits, like illegal number plates, dodgy indicator stalk etc. Work done by dubz by dan, and a quick retest and we past

yesterdays trip to the rolling road

took her up for a tune up, air leak on the left maniford, so that had to come off, new gasket on,then some fiddling.

ran out of time so back there friday for a final tune. Now running 32mm chkes, 200 air correctors, 145 mains, 55 idle, still running rich, so will try a bigger air corrector friday. All being done by a local carb guru not me, im just passing spanners

quick power run, showed 65bhp @ 4000rpm

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XprU3...eature=channel

added a CB wide glide sump today for extra oil capacity/cooling

gives me an extra 2ltrs of oil

I've often thought about added a deeper sump to my bus Some people seem to be for this and others against..?
How are you finding it?
Can you add anymore to that bus...? icon_lol

I have decided (after some running problems over the weekend) that I must start to do some of my own maintenance Fancy giving me a few pointers? icon_biggrin
