Topic: Swattesfield Campsite, Thornham Magna, Suffolk

Nice naturalists' (not naturists!) campsite. Basic facilities in the form of shower, toilets and washing up area but the setting and the quiet nature of the place more than made up for it. There's a wood oven on site for pizzas, free firepits and well priced firewood or you can bring your own.

The best thing is that the campsite adjoins the Thornham Walks; a network of permissive walks along farmland, alongside rivers, down old lanes that have never been asphalted over and through woodland. All the walks are marked with timber posts and were an initiative of Lord Henniker's in the '80's, who was the then owner of Thorham Hall, to open up access to his estate.

A very good pub, The Four Horseshoes, a cafe and a restaurant are conveniently located within walking distance from the campsite.

We had a great weekend there without kids and I would thoroughly recommend it for a relaxing break.
