Chelmsford was the birthplace of Splitterz. It all began in something approaching a monsoon in January 2004 and a year later the Chelmsford meet moved to its present venue, the Horse and Groom in Galleywood before spawning a second meet in Bishop's Stortford in 2005 and further meets in 2006.

The pub had plenty of parking and there is a good area for mountain biking on the common and plenty of room for activities outside in the summer. The pub serves food 7pm - 9pm weeknights so that fits nicely with the meets.

Bishop's Stortford
