Andy - Forum ID: Oldschool71. Location: Basildon.

In brief: Hi my name is Andy, I'm 21 and have had my beetle for over 3 years, using it as my daily driver. I have been into Beetles now since I was around 2 years old, from my family holidays in Cornwall. I tend to do all my own mechanical and body work on the car and I am in the process of saving for a Camper. It may take some time. I try and get to most of the shows around the country and so far Volksworld and Big Bang are the tops. Below are a couple of pictures of my beetle.

History: I bought it from a guy at the Volksworld show in 2002. That's all the history I have apart from every receipt, M.O.T and tax document since the early 80's.

Description: 1971, Type 1. More information given below.

My Beetle

Model

1972 Type 1.

Engine

1300cc twin port, standard exhaust, 009 dizzy, standard solex carb. Simple but runs and runs and runs!!

Chassis

All standard except for the 4 inch lowered beam. Standard ride height on the rear.

Exterior

Standard 1971 shell, new wings all round, new rear 1967 lights, did have one piece windows fitted when I bought it but I changed it back to stock, clear front indicators, and that's it really.

Interior

New TMI seat trim, new black carpet all round, 13 inch Astrali wooden and chrome steering wheel, Scat drag shifter, original 1960's Blaupunkt radio with chrome front and some home made door cards to match the seats.

History: Well the plan is to put some twin Kadrons on her, new mondo exhaust, 1600 or 1641 conversion, monster tacho, early semi-w deck-lid, have we got any more room for the rest??????
