Will - Forum ID: Wilo. Location: le Strotford.

In brief: Well hello there, I'm Will aka The Wilo, I live in the Westside in le Strotford, you might of seen me driving about town at some point! If you're from that "lovely" area. I first became interested in the world of vdubs about 2 years ago when I was going to buy a mini (don't ask why!!), but thanks very much to a close mate, he stopped me! He persuaded me to delve into VW's. So I shopped around, did my home work and October 2005 I found the love of my life.. a 1971 1200 love bug :-)

After driving about in her for a while she became "un-shy" and started to talk me!!! And that's when I found out she was called Plopy (because that's the noise she makes). I'm now a complete sado because she's become the love of my life and I wouldn't look back, or trade her for anything in the world! She has so much character and to be honest she's turned out to be more then just a car, sad as it seem but we have some deep conversation!

Plopy's Specs

Model

1971 1200 Type 1 (called Plopy).

Engine

at the moment it just has a standard 1200cc.

Interior

The interior is average, it needs a little work doing but I'm quite happy with it. When I got her she had some GTI 'holey' bucket seats that had been welded on to beetle runners, but I've taken them out and replaced them with some original seats. She has awesome speakers and a sub which makes her sound even more luscious.

Exterior

When she's all washed up, she shines like a beauty! She's quite a head turner. I've just put all new chrome round the out side which does look quite smart, she used to be a baby blue colour until some previous owner decided to spray her red. This looks nice, for a red car! There are no major signs of rust however there are a few chips on the roof which I keep telling my self it just adds to her character (But really I can't afford a re-spray at present).

For the Future: I've got quite a short list of what I want to achieve in the future, well it's short compared to some peoples list, not naming names *cough* ratty *cough*. I want a newer engine ideally a 1600cc with twin Webber carbs. a re-spray (same colour just touched up), I want the beast lowered down, I've been convinced in to getting a banjo steering wheel, but wo0o0o the price of them! I might have to wait awhile. I think after that it should look quite respectable. I don't plan to 'Barry' her up, I want to keep her quite original, with some modifications, but that's all for now :-)
